About

Our Story

PARS Taranaki was founded on the belief that every person deserves a fair chance to rebuild their life.

For many, leaving prison brings a mix of relief and uncertainty. We saw the gaps – people leaving without ID, housing, or support. So we stepped in. Our work began with a small group of volunteers determined to walk alongside people as they took their first steps home.

Over the years, we’ve grown into a trusted, community-based service – supporting individuals, families and communities across Taranaki. We don’t judge where people have been. We focus on where they’re going.

Our Mission

To empower people returning from prison with the resources, relationships, and support they need to rebuild their lives, reconnect with whānau, and contribute positively to their communities.

Our Team

We have a team on the ground ready to provide support to those who need it.

Our strength is in our people – staff, volunteers, mentors and partners – all bringing empathy, experience, and belief in potential.

Reintegration Workers

Guiding clients through transitions.

Peer Mentors

People with lived experience, offering hope and relatability.

Whānau Support Coordinators

Connecting families to resources
and understanding.

Volunteers

Driving, mentoring, and simply showing up.

We don’t just fix problems - we walk beside people until they feel ready to stand tall again.
